  • Fasting Mimicking Diet – During this Navratri

I’ve always been very keen on maintaining good health. Every since moving to Austin, I’ve been experimenting. I went vegetarian for almost 8 years, until 2 years ago. I do not eat a lot of meat but I do enjoying eating meat. I did not see a huge benefit of being a strict vegetarian so I resumed eating chicken, lamb, pork, fish etc again

During the last decade, I also took up fasting and I can say fasting (calorific restriction, particularly) is amazing for you. I thought I could never fast. However, over the years I took up water fasting (way before it was cool or fashionable). My protocol had been to simply quit eating at 6pm on Sunday and then only resume eating Tues morning. I didnt get there overnight, but that has been my usual for a while now. I have at times gone from Sunday to Thursday – and that takes some effort. The goal here isnt to lose weight but specifically to flush your body of toxins and give it the time and opportunity to self-repair.

    A New experiment starts today

I have read known about Dr. Valter Longos work on the Fasting Mimicking diet and read his book as well. Becuase I’m a Trojan, this work out of the USC Longevity institute has always been fascinating for me. This week, I’m going to be incorporating FMD into my Navratri fasting (for the first time ever) and I’ll try to also keep logging actively about my experience over the next few days.

    Navratri fasting…

Today is the first day of Chaitra Navratri (Thu, Mar 19, 2026 – Fri, Mar 27, 2026) – a period of fasting that aligns extremely well with the change in seasons. While there is a religious reason to Navratri fasting, I see the scientific value in preparing your body and flushing out toxins as the seasons change.

This time I’m going to be experimenting with FMD (Fasting Mimicking Diet) – I’ve gained some weight in the past few months. This aligns very well with the Navratri fasting and I’ll be making notes and giving updates here.

Over the long term this is all ‘baby steps’ towards my vision to CentoViva. Read more about my CentoViva Project.

  • CentoViva Project – Living Longer, Stronger

This is post 1 of 1 in the series “Fasting Mimicking Diet”

I’ve always been a tech person at heart, not a doctor. But when it comes to my health, I carry a deep sense of curiosity. With a family history full of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other chronic conditions, I’ve always felt the need to be watchful. I don’t just want to add years to my life, I want those years to be full of strength, movement, and clarity.

Like most of us today, I don’t get enough sunlight. I know exercise and movement are the foundation of staying young, but I also began to wonder: what else can I do to give my body the best chance at repairing itself, thriving, and deferring the effects of aging?

That curiosity has sparked endless questions:

    • What’s the right level of Vitamin B12, and why does it matter for energy and brain health?
    • How much Vitamin D3 do I really need, and what does the science say about its role in immunity, mood, and longevity?
    • Which supplements are truly backed by research, and which ones are just hype?
    • How do I know if a supplement is safe to take, even if it doesn’t help, can I be sure it won’t do me harm?
    • And beyond supplements: how can I improve sleep, support cellular repair, and align my lifestyle with the latest science?

I realized that what I was really searching for was clarity. Not vague advice. Not marketing promises. But structured, science-backed answers I could trust, explained simply, and applied safely to everyday life.

That’s what the CentaViva Project is about.
It’s a living guide to the big questions we all have about health: why a certain nutrient matters, how it works in the body, how much is optimal, and what the research really says about safety and effectiveness. It’s not about chasing miracles. It’s about building confidence, knowing that every choice you make is informed, supported by science, and aligned with your goal of living not just longer, but stronger.
